Engin Firat is a Turkish former football player and football manager who is currently the head coach of the Kenya national team. He was born on June 11, 1970, in Istanbul, Turkey.

Firat started his professional career as an assistant coach for German legend Horst Hrubesch in Samsunspor in 1997, which made him the youngest professional football coach in Europe at the time. He has since gone on to have a successful coaching career, with a lot of international experience and success.

Firat is known for his expertise in tactics and his strong leadership skills. He has coached several teams in Turkey, Germany, Iran, and South Korea, among others. He has also worked as a sporting director for Kardemir Karabükspor, Dallas City FC, and Vllaznia Shkodër. In 2019, he was appointed as the head coach of the Moldova national team, a position he held until 2021¹.

Firat’s coaching career began in Turkey, where he worked as an assistant coach for several teams, including Samsunspor, Antalyaspor, and Fenerbahçe. He then moved to Germany, where he was a member of the technical staff of Bundesliga team Eintracht Frankfurt.

He also did scouting for the team. After his stint in Germany, he returned to Turkey to work as an assistant coach for Fenerbahçe. He then took over as head coach of LR Ahlen, a 2. Bundesliga side, for three games, making him only the second Turkish head coach in German Bundesliga history, after Mustafa Denizli. He then moved to South Korea to join newly founded Pro team Incheon United.

Firat’s success as a coach is evident in the many achievements he has had throughout his career. He led Saipa to the Iranian league title in 2006-2007. He also guided Gostaresh to promotion to the Iranian Pro League in 2011.

In 2015, he was appointed as the sporting director of Kardemir Karabükspor, where he helped the team avoid relegation from the Turkish Super Lig. He then moved to Albania to work as the sporting director of Vllaznia Shkodër.

In 2019, he was appointed as the head coach of the Moldova national team, where he helped the team achieve some notable results, including a 1-0 victory over Azerbaijan in the UEFA Nations League.

Firat’s appointment as the head coach of the Kenya national team in 2021 was met with excitement from fans and players alike.
