Uncertainty as FKF Boss Plots To Miss The Second Senate Invite To Respond Queries on Football Mismanagement

The Kenyan Senate’s Standing Committee on Labor and Social Welfare has cautioned Nick Mwendwa, the President of the Football Kenya Federation, of employing strategies to intentionally defer his response to allegations of mismanagement of football in the country.

In a correspondence from the Clerk of the Senate, Mr. J.M. Nyegenye, Nick Mwendwa was reprimanded for causing unwarranted delays in resolving the petition filed against him. This was due to his request to reschedule an initial meeting, where he and five potential participants were supposed to appear before the Standing Committee.

“Although you requested for postponement of the meeting, you are yet to submit a progress report to the issues raised in the petition as requested by the Committee. Your failure to appear at meetings of the Committee is causing unnecessary delays in concluding the Petition. The committee resolved to send you a final invitation to report on the progress made,” said Mr Nyegenye.

Nick Mwendwa was instructed to attend a meeting with the Committee on November 30, 2023, at 11:30am. The meeting will take place at the Impala Conference Room housed at the Kenyatta International Convention Center. He is required to bring along 5 individuals whom he believes will be helpful in addressing the questions directed towards him.

Prior to this, Nick Mwendwa had requested the Clerk to reschedule the meeting originally set for November 14, 2023, as he had a conflicting commitment that would prevent him from addressing the inquiries of the Standing Committee.

Unfortunately, we must notify you that the federation is experiencing a scheduling difficulty due to the simultaneous involvement of both the Kenya Men’s and Women’s national teams in their World Cup qualifiers, which will take place from November 11, 2023, to November 22, 2023. – Read Nick Mwendwa’s letter

Nick Mwendwa is accused of mishandling football operations and the associated resources of the Federation.

As per previous reports,, Nick Mwendwa has been under scrutiny for several years due to his misuse of FKF funding. He encountered apprehensions and dissolution of the FKF in order to facilitate the establishment of a caretaker committee starting in 2021. Earlier this year, he was cleared of 44 charges in which he was accused of embezzling Sh 38 million designated for the advancement of football in the country.

He is being summoned by the Senate Committee for the third time within a span of three months.
