Super 8 Tournament 20th Anniversary Celebrations Lands in Nyamira

Extreme Sports Ltd in conjunction with FKF Nyamira branch have today announced the launch of the inaugural Nyamira Super 8 Football Tournament set to be played in December.

As part of its 20-year anniversary celebrations, Super 8 football tournament will be played in the county of Nyamira for three weeks starting from 3rd December to 24th December. A total of thirty two clubs from across the county are expected to participate in the competition.

The chairman of FKF Nyamira branch Mr. Luthers Mokua, thanked Extreme Sports Ltd for the timely support.

“Many teams at the grassroots struggle with playing football due to numerous challenges and this partnership will go a long way in motivating the players” Said Mr. Luthers.

Extreme Sports CEO, Mr. Hussein Mohammed, the founder of the Super 8 league called upon county governments to invest in grassroots sporting facilities if the country is to realize significant gains in the sector.

“Community based Football clubs can only be self-sustaining if the environment is conducive for stakeholders to invest in.” Added Mr. Hussein.

With AFCON coming to the region in 2027, there is no better time for the country to build the requisite sustainable infrastructure that generations will benefit from. We must however be extremely careful that we don’t end up with white elephants in the name of ‘international stadia’.

Extreme Sports Ltd is a social enterprise where thousands of youth across the country are empowered to pursue their aspirations in sports administration.

Through the Super 8 League, more than 20 players have risen from playing in the grassroots to the top level in the premier league and the national team Harambee Stars.

Over 150 football clubs have undergone life skills training in the areas of financial literacy, fight against substance abuse, governance and environment conservancy.
