Ladies And Gentlemen, Ryan Wesley Ogam, The Rising Star Leading Tusker FC to New Heights

Ogam, born on December 21, 2004, at Pumwani Hospital in Nairobi, has rapidly ascended the ranks of Kenyan football to become a standout striker for Tusker FC and a promising talent for the national team, Harambee Stars.

Ogam’s football journey began in Nairobi, where he attended Unity Primary School. His passion for the sport was evident from a young age, leading him to Kakamega High School from 2019 to 2021 for his Form 1 to Form 3 studies, before completing form 4 at Dagoretti High School in 2022.

During his formative years, Ogam honed his skills with local clubs such as Galaxy FC, Sunrise FC, and UEFA Despanol. His talent was further showcased on international stages, representing Mysa Kenya at the Norway Cup in 2017 and participating in the Yisca’s team in a tournament held in Italy back in 2018.

Ogam’s professional journey commenced with Rainbow FC, where he earned his first salary of Ksh 15,000. His prowess on the field caught the attention of international scouts, leading to a stint with Elite Falcons in Dubai. Upon returning to Kenya, he signed with Tusker FC, where he has made a significant impact in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL).

In his debut FKFPL season with Tusker FC, Ogam has been nothing short of sensational. He opened his top-tier goal account in the second match of the season and has since maintained a remarkable scoring streak. As of December 2024, he leads the league’s scoring charts with 13 goals in 14 matches, including a memorable hat-trick against Murang’a Seal.

His outstanding performances earned him the club’s Player of the Month award for November 2024, a testament to his dedication and skill.

Ogam’s talents have not gone unnoticed on the international stage. He represented Kenya in the 2020 CECAFA U17 tournament and was part of the U20 squad for the Four Nations Tournament in 2024. Later that year, he featured in the CHAN qualifiers and the Mapinduzi Cup, where he experienced the highs and lows of international football.

Ryan has beenPrimarily deployed as a striker; he is equally comfortable playing in midfield. His versatility, combined with a keen eye for goal and exceptional ball control, makes him a formidable presence on the pitch.

Drawing inspiration from his father and football icons like Arnold Origi, Victor Osimhen, and Jamal Musiala, Ogam aspires to finish the current season as the top scorer and lead Tusker FC to FKF Premier League glory. Looking ahead, he dreams of playing abroad and becoming a mainstay in the Harambee Stars’ first team.

Ogam acknowledges the progress in Kenya’s football scene but believes there is room for improvement. He emphasizes the need for better infrastructure, support for grassroots development, and enhanced professionalism within the leagues.

Among his cherished football memories is scoring in national team colors, a moment that filled him with immense pride. Conversely, the defeat to Zanzibar in the Mapinduzi Cup stands out as a challenging experience, showing the highs and lows inherent in the sport.

At just 20 years old, Ryan Wesley Ogam’s journey is a demonstration to talent, hard work, and determination. As he continues to evolve, both Tusker FC and Kenyan football enthusiasts eagerly anticipate the milestones he will achieve in the years to come.
