Nyamira County FKF Chairman Petitions Over FKF Voter Register Irregularities

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) 2024 elections have hit a new snag as the FKF Nyamira County Chairman, Luthers Mokua, officially filed a petition addressing multiple electoral irregularities. In a complaint submitted to the FKF Electoral Board, Mokua highlights several inconsistencies in the county’s voter register, citing non-compliance with both the FKF Constitution 2017 and the FKF Electoral Code 2024.

In his detailed petition, Mokua specifically points out that numerous football teams have been wrongly included in the voter register despite not having participated in FKF-recognized leagues for the last two consecutive seasons (2022/2023 and 2023/2024).

These teams include Blue Line FC, Girango Youth FC, Pirates FC, and 15 others. Conversely, two legitimate teams—Mwamba FC and Nyamira Youth FC—have been omitted from the voter register, despite their active participation in recognized FKF leagues during the same period.

The petition calls for the immediate rectification of these discrepancies. Mokua suggests that teams improperly admitted into the voter register should be removed, while those wrongly excluded should be added, in accordance with the provisions outlined in the FKF electoral code.

Mokua’s petition comes amidst growing concerns over transparency and fairness in the FKF elections, with local football stakeholders pushing for strict adherence to both FKF and FIFA electoral guidelines. This latest development adds pressure on the FKF Electoral Board to ensure credible elections as the country prepares for a leadership overhaul in its football administration.

The Nyamira County FKF chairman’s concerns could spark a wider review of electoral processes across various FKF branches, as calls for accountability continue to echo throughout the football community.
