Kickstarting Progress: National Summit Gathers Kenya’s Football Associations

•

In a move that promises to shape the future of Kenyan football, the National Governing Council has sounded the rallying cry by convening representatives from all 44 county football associations registered under the Sports Act 2013.

The pivotal gathering extended its embrace to key stakeholders, including the Kenya Football Coaches Association (KEFOCA), Kenya Football Referees Association (KFRA), and Kenya Football Players Association (KEFOPA).

This high-stakes assembly, presided over by Mr. Alfred Marori of Nairobi County, Mr. Joakim Mbalilwa of Nakuru, and Ms. Virginia Mueni of Machakos, is set to address a myriad of critical issues that will define the trajectory of football in the nation.

At the forefront of the agenda is the comprehensive evaluation of the status of the county football associations leagues. This scrutiny aims to foster growth, sustainability, and the overall enhancement of football at the grassroots level, ensuring that every county becomes a hotbed for nurturing raw talent.

Equally significant is the discussion surrounding the FKF Electoral Code 2024 (2020), a framework that holds the key to ensuring transparent, fair, and democratic football elections.

The meeting will delve into critical components of this code, including the date of FKF elections, the constitution of electoral committees and board members, and the formulation of a robust voter register.

As the stage is set for this monumental gathering, the nation awaits insights from the invited guests, who are expected to share their valuable perspectives and contribute to the strategic blueprint for the future of Kenyan football.

With the eyes of the football community fixed on this momentous occasion, the National Governing Council’s assembly promises to be a pivotal chapter in the annals of Kenyan football history.
