Kenya’s County Football Associations Spearhead Overhaul of FKF Electoral Code 2020

•

In a clandestine gathering at an undisclosed hotel in Nairobi, Kenya’s County Football Associations (CFAs) convened to address critical issues, notably proposing changes to the controversial FKF Electoral Code 2020.

The meeting gained significance following a stern warning from the government’s registrar of sports, Madam Rose Wasike, cautioning against unconstitutional elections.

The CFAs meticulously scrutinized the electoral code, rectifying glaring illegalities, and aligned it with the Sports Act 2013 and Article 81 of the Kenyan Constitution.

Notably, amendments were made to ensure compliance, transparency, and fairness, emphasizing adherence to ethical principles and FIFA regulations.

The proposed revisions touch every facet, correcting omissions of the Sports Act 2013, promoting fair campaigns, and introducing stringent eligibility criteria. The CFAs also emphasized the need for compliance from clubs participating in various leagues.

These changes, once ratified by FIFA, promise to pave the way for a transparent and constitutionally sound electoral process, bringing a new era to Kenyan football governance.

The ball is now in the court of FIFA, the Kenyan Parliament, or the judiciary to endorse and enforce these pivotal amendments for upcoming elections.

The winds of change are blowing through Kenya’s football landscape, signaling a commitment to free, fair, and verifiable elections.
