In a significant meeting at the parliamentary buildings in Nairobi, CS Ababu Namwamba, accompanied by Sports PS Engineer Peter Tum, engaged in a crucial meeting with the Departmental Committee on Sports and Culture.

The focus of the discussion centered around Kenya’s preparedness to co-host AFCON’27 with Uganda and Tanzania.

The meeting saw the presence of key figures in the sports arena, including the CEO of SASDF, Mr. Nuh Ibrahim, Director General for Sports Pius Metto, Deputy Commissioner of Sports Jackson Indakwa, FKF President Nick Mwendwa, CEO of Kenya Academy of Sports Doreen Odhiambo, and SA Evans Achoki, among other notable personalities.

CS Namwamba wasted no time in conveying the government’s commitment to upgrading the country’s sporting infrastructure to international standards.

The ambitious plan aligns with Kenya’s master strategy for hosting AFCON’27. Namwamba, known for his straightforward approach, emphasized to FKF President Nick Mwendwa that the government’s investment is not a trial project but a decisive effort aligned with specific objectives that needs commitment and a fresh leadership.

“We do not want our Harambee Stars to merely participate; we want them to compete. As a government, we are ready to support them fully,”

declared CS Ababu, leaving no room for ambiguity.

Namwamba’s vision extended beyond the tournament itself, highlighting the imperative of youth development and a return to grassroots football. Recognizing untapped talent at the grassroots level, he stressed the critical importance of preparing Harambee Stars strategically.

The target to prepare Harambee Stars is critical, youth development is not negotiable, and we have made it clear to FKF. In readiness to host AFCON’27, we need to get back to the grassroots and ensure we grow sports in a manner that will bring economic value to our country,”

affirmed CS Ababu, outlining a comprehensive plan to elevate Kenyan football to new heights.

With such resolute leadership, Kenya stands poised for a transformative journey in the realm of international football.
