Gor Risks Getting Banned From Playing at Kasarani and Nyayo

The defending Football Kenya Federation Premier League champions, Gor Mahia, have been fined for the damage they caused to Kasarani Stadium on November 11, 2023, during their match against Muranga Seal.

Subsequent to the referee’s decision to disallow a goal scored by Benson Omala, a striker for Gor Mahia, in the 35th minute, a dispute ensued between supporters of Gor Mahia and the recently promoted Murang’a Seal due to their perception of the match officials’ alleged injustice.

Several Gor Mahia supporters raced across the stadium and began tossing objects across the field following the final whistle. The fans also targeted the referee, throwing objects at him and accusing him of making biased decisions that resulted in a scoreless stalemate.

Gor Mahia was fined Ksh 2 million by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) in restitution for the devastation of Kasarani Stadium. Furthermore, should a recurrence of such incidents, Gor Mahia will be barred from playing at Kasarani Stadium, as warned by the FKF. Additionally, all football supporters have been exhorted by the FKF to uphold discipline and respect the decisions of match officials.

Gor Mahia has had prior experience with occurrences of this nature. Gor Mahia incurred a fine of Ksh 1 million in 2019 in restitution for the damage inflicted upon the Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani during their match against AFC Leopards.

Such occurrences underscore the necessity for football supporters to uphold discipline and show deference towards the rulings of match officials.

In conclusion, for the devastation of Kasarani Stadium on November 11, 2023, during their match against Muranga Seal, Gor Mahia has been fined Ksh 2 million. If these incidents recur, Gor Mahia have been informed by the FKF that they will be barred from playing at Kasarani Stadium.
