Drop Your Case Against Nick Mwendwa or Face Ksh. 500,000 Fine, CFAs Told

On 30th of November 2023, County Football Associations held a two-hour session with the Senate Committee on Labor and Social Welfare Chaired by Senator Julius Murgor Recha.

The meeting, whose purpose was to present report from both the CFAs and the Football Kenya Federation’s Boss Nick Mwendwa on their “negotiations” outcome as directed by the committee turned to be a totally different event.

A secrete conversation between the lead petitioner Mr. Wilfred Marori and the committees clerk was presented. In this conversation, Mr. Marori alluded that Nick Mwendwa may have bribed the senators to frustrate the hearing of the committee.

A whole one and half hour was used to demand explanation, victimize, intimidate and pressure the lead petitioner to a point of proposing a fine of Ksh. 500,000 as suggested by Senator Stewart Madzayo with a backing of the rest of the senator.

On his side, shocked by how his private conversation with the clerk had now been made the topic of discussion for so long ignoring the main purpose of the meeting, Mr. Marori apologized for the same and promised to do a written apology to both the senate and the FKF President.

His apology was although not going to be enough for the Senators as upon Mr. Marori’s refusal to negotiate with the FKF President, and his refusal to withdraw the case he filed as an individual (not as Nairobi County Football Association Secretary), the Chair, Mr. Mugor warned that the Ksh. 500,000 fine will be an option for the senate to rethink.

The senate petition was thus halted with a divided regional association representatives on which side to lean on, that of the senate tp push for negotiations or the side of Marori that sees no value to negotiate truce.

Mr. Marori’s case is set to kick off on 7th December at the Sports Disputes Tribunal with an expected ruling early next year.
