Court Orders Arrest of FKF Officials Over Alleged Electoral Irregularities

Keroka, Kenya – November 27, 2024: The Keroka Chief Magistrate’s Court has issued an order directing the immediate arrest of three individuals linked to alleged electoral malpractices within the Football Kenya Federation (FKF).

The individuals include Mr. Kerubo Elina, Mr. Gabriel Oduoch, and Mr. Vincent Meroka Nyansai. According to the order, the trio is to be held at the Keroka Police Station pending further investigations.

The case, filed by Bonunyuyu Football Club and Ratemo Matundura James, accuses the FKF Electoral Board and the Registrar of Sports of conducting elections that allegedly violated established legal and procedural requirements.

The court has mandated the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) at Gesucha Police Station, alongside the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Keroka, to investigate the claims and submit a report within seven days.

The plaintiffs assert that the FKF Electoral Board conducted elections contrary to orders issued by the same court on November 11, 2024. These allegations cast further doubt on the integrity of the FKF electoral process, which has already faced widespread criticism and scrutiny from football stakeholders.

In addition to the arrests, the court has ordered all parties involved to submit their written submissions regarding the allegations within three working days. The court emphasized that this timeline is non-negotiable, and non-compliance will be treated as contempt of court, punishable by up to six months’ imprisonment.

The matter will next be heard on November 28, 2024, with the court extending interim orders previously issued to ensure no further actions are taken regarding the disputed elections until the matter is resolved.

This development adds to the growing uncertainty surrounding FKF’s governance, particularly as the federation faces calls for reforms and transparency in its operations.
