Concerns Raised Over Irregularities in Narok County FKF Voter Register for 2024 Elections

•

As the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) 2024 elections draw near, teams from Narok County have lodged a formal complaint regarding the integrity of the preliminary list of eligible voting clubs. Citing irregularities and malpractices in the voter register, several teams are calling for the exclusion of five clubs they believe do not meet the criteria to participate in the electoral process.

According to a petition filed by teams, the five clubs in question—Marinwa FC, Tumoyiot FC, Osotua FC, Rongena FC, and Kilgoris United FC—are either inactive or have participated in only a single season, raising doubts about their eligibility. The Narok County teams argue that these clubs should not be allowed to vote in the upcoming FKF elections.

In a meeting held on September 1, 2024, at the William Ole Ntimama Stadium, several participating clubs from Narok County discussed their concerns about the preliminary list released by the FKF Electoral Board. Representatives from clubs such as Total Spurs FC, Black Boys FC, Home Boys FC, and others reviewed the voter register and unanimously agreed that the inclusion of these five clubs violated the principles of fair competition.

The teams highlighted that Marinwa FC, Tumoyiot FC, and Osotua FC only played in the 2023/2024 season, and have been largely inactive over the past four years. Additionally, Kilgoris United FC and Rongena FC have not participated in any league activities since the 2022/2023 season. These teams, according to the Narok County representatives, were included unlawfully with the intention of influencing the outcome of the election in favor of the incumbent.

The complaint further notes that Sagamian Galaxy, champions of the Narok South Sub-county league for the 2023/2024 season, were left off the list of eligible voting clubs. This omission, along with the inclusion of inactive teams, has fueled concerns that the voter register may have been tampered with to manipulate the election.

In their formal petition to the FKF Electoral Board, the teams are requesting that the five aforementioned clubs be excluded from the list of eligible voters. They emphasize that allowing inactive teams to vote undermines the integrity of the election and threatens the credibility of the FKF electoral process.

The petition calls for swift action to rectify the voter register, ensuring that only clubs that have consistently participated in FKF leagues and are actively involved in football development in the county are eligible to vote.
