FKF NEC Members Condemn Diversion from Key Issues in Emergency Press Conference

•

In a statement released today, Football Kenya Federation (FKF) North Eastern NEC member Dabar Ahmedqadar and Eastern NEC Member Murithi Nabea expressed their disappointment at the diversion of an emergency press conference away from pressing matters within the organization.

The press conference, which they had anticipated would address critical issues such as the OB van fiasco, missing Covid funds, mismanagement of the FIFA for school balls program, and the hosting of CHAN in 2024, instead focused solely on an individual, Hussein Mohammed. The NEC members condemned what they termed as “pettiness and mediocrity,” stating that never before had such diversion been witnessed in the country.

Ahmedqadar and Nabea, as duly elected representatives of FKF from the North Eastern and Eastern regions respectively, emphasized their condemnation of the diversion from pressing issues. They cited the FKF Constitution as the bedrock of the organization, outlining clear guidelines and regulations for meetings, including the Annual General Meeting (AGM). They stressed the fundamental right of clubs to choose their representatives for such gatherings, as enshrined in the constitution.

The NEC members stood in solidarity with Murang’a Seal, a club attempting to send Vice Chairman Hussein Mohammed as their representative to the AGM. They rejected any attempt to disallow Mohammed’s attendance, labeling assertions of his ineligibility as baseless and lacking merit.

Moreover, they rejected the invocation of Article 30.4 of the FKF Constitution to alter the AGM agenda in favor of expelling individuals deemed ineligible by certain members. They warned that such actions would only sow discord and undermine the democratic process within the federation.

In conclusion, Ahmedqadar and Nabea urged all members of the Football Kenya Federation to uphold unity and cooperation as they navigate crucial discussions and decisions at the upcoming AGM. They emphasized the importance of transparency, inclusivity, and respect for the rule of law in ensuring the continued progress and success of Kenyan football.

The statement was signed by Dabar Ahmedqadar, FKF North Eastern NEC Member, and Murithi Nabea, FKF Eastern NEC Member, and echoed the sentiment: “Cowards die many times before their deaths.” – Julius Caesar, The Roman Emperor.
